Free AI Tool
Does This AI Tool Train on Your Data?
“Does it train on my data?” has a different answer for every vendor and every plan, and the settings that control it get renamed every few months. Pick the tool and how you use it and get the answer straight from a verified facts table: the training default, the toggle that turns it off, the retention window, the temporary-chat mode, and one line on what to do before you paste anything you owe a client.

Which tool, and how do you use it?
Claude · Free, Pro, or Max
Yes, unless you turn it off
Your chats are used to train or improve the model by default. There is a single setting that stops it going forward.
Your name (bottom left) → Settings → Privacy → under "Help Improve our AI models", switch the toggle off. Same path in the mobile apps.
Ghost icon on a new chat. Never used for training, even with the toggle on. Kept 30 days, then deleted. Not saved to history or memory.
- Toggle on
- With the toggle on, de-identified chats and coding sessions can stay in Anthropic's training pipelines for up to 5 years. Deleted chats leave the back end within 30 days.
- Opted out
- Anthropic's standard 30-day retention applies. Neither previous nor new chats go into future training, except data already in a completed or in-progress training run.
Switch off "Help Improve our AI models" first, or use Incognito chat for this one chat. Opting out is not erasure, so redact names, account numbers, and anything identifying anyway.
Verified September 2026 against Anthropic's own page. These settings get renamed and re-defaulted every few months, so if something looks different in your app, the app is right and this table needs an update.
Common questions
Does this tool work with ChatGPT?
The tool itself runs on Claude (Anthropic) right here on the page — you don't need any AI subscription to use it. Everything it generates is plain text, so you can paste the output into ChatGPT, a document, or an email and keep working there. If you mainly work in ChatGPT, you can also reuse your inputs there to refine further.
What AI model powers this tool and the example output?
Claude, Anthropic's AI. The example outputs shown on tool pages were generated with Claude.
Do the paid prompt packs work with ChatGPT?
Yes — the packs are written and tested for Claude, and every pack includes a portable prompts-only set that works in ChatGPT and Gemini (copy and paste, occasionally with a minor tweak). The Cowork plugin editions specifically require a paid Claude plan.
Claude is a product of Anthropic. The AI Career Lab is not affiliated with Anthropic or OpenAI.
