What Is Claude Cowork?
Claude Cowork is Anthropic's agentic workspace inside the Claude apps. Instead of chatting back and forth, you give Claude a job — and it does the work and hands back a finished deliverable, using installable Agent Skills (plugins) built for your profession. Think of it less like a chatbot and more like a junior teammate that already knows your work.
How it's different from chatting with Claude
Chat is turn-by-turn — you prompt, it replies, you refine. Cowork is task-by-task: you describe the outcome, and Claude runs the steps and returns the finished artifact. It keeps project context (your firm, your voice, your files) and runs installed skills, so repeatable work stops being a conversation and starts being a deliverable.

- Where do my files live in Cowork?
- In a real folder on your computer, tied to a Project. Cowork builds context in that folder over time — your documents, the Project's instructions, and its memory all persist there — rather than living inside a disposable chat. You decide which folders and connectors Claude can touch.
- What's a Live Artifact?
- A persistent, shareable dashboard Cowork can produce as a deliverable. Rather than sending a new PDF every month, you give someone a permalink to an artifact that auto-refreshes with the latest data. It's a common upgrade for client reporting and one of the things chat-only AI tools can't replicate.
